Three minutes are up as the word “pregnant” comes into focus on the digital display. Her world seems to reel from the shock as suddenly life as she knows it has changed. Fear slowly, but powerfully, overtakes her as she considers what it will be like to share the news of her pregnancy. She knows there is a clinic in her town that offers abortions and she wonders if that option would be better than facing the father of the baby, her family, his family, co-workers and friends. Life has suddenly changed and she needs a safe place to go for options, help and hope. Where will she go?
We have all been there; we have all faced seemingly insurmountable situations and been reluctant to ask for help. Friends later exclaim, “Why didn’t you say something? We would have helped!” But we held tightly to our independence and did not reach out to the community of believers with which God has surrounded us.
The Pregnancy Resource Center of Metro Richmond (PRC) has served the women of Richmond and surrounding counties for 27 years. After years of working to build relationships with women in the hardest hit communities in our city and watching God work in mighty ways in our midst, we find ourselves in the midst of one of those challenging financial moments. We are asking for your help.
In this economic climate, coupled with the politically-charged season, we have seen our donations fall significantly. Once again we have drastically cut our expenses to respond, but the need for our services is too great to cut back anymore. In September, we reached our 1,982nd visit for the year – surpassing the total from last year of 1,875.
Throughout the month of November, we will be running a campaign: “Partners for Life”. We are praying that God will raise up 1,000 individuals within the community of believers in Central Virginia to partner with the PRC through monthly giving. We are asking you to invest in the PRC’s mission with a monthly gift, of any size, as the Lord leads.
As a partner, your gifts will enable our nurses, counselors, and staff to minister to our clients who are facing an unplanned pregnancy, helping them to navigate a turbulent time in their lives by speaking the truth in love, providing material assistance and connecting them to resources they so desperately need. No matter the amount, your monthly partnership will allow us to focus on ministering to the men and women of Richmond – not fundraising. Even small recurring gifts can make a difference.
